Goals: FTFC - Crossley, Cowell, Watkinson

Town ran out worthy winners in this feisty encounter against top West Lancashire League side, Freckleton. Apart from the opening ten minutes of the second half Fleetwood, were the more dominant of the two sides. Town gave five players their debuts, and two more were returning after a year away. The home side were chasing shadows for much of the game with Fleetwood playing some neat football on a superb playing surface. Adam Crossley opened the scoring on 21 minutes with a flashing header off an Anthony Warwick cross. Crossley, just released from Preston’s Academy, could have marked his debut with a hat trick with better finishing, but he can be very satisfied with his contribution. Freckleton equalised five minutes into the second period when Mark Smith, who up to this point looked in fine form, spilled a free kick from the edge of the box. Town regained the lead with twenty minutes to go when Joel Cowell raced clear to finish neatly past the advancing keeper. Chris Watkinson sealed the game when Crossley showed some good foot work to pull the ball back for Watkinson to score from close range. A good night’s work and some good performances from debutants Crossley and former Blackpool player Dax Hougerworth. Christian Dust also looked very solid at the centre of the back four. Cowell, Warwick and Watkinson all looked very sharp and were a constant menace all night.

Squad: Smith, Webster, Buschini, Dust, Tallentire, Hougerworth, Davis, Perz, Watkinson, De Blanc, Crossley, Warwick, Harris and Matthews.
