NEVER MIND THE POLLOCKS
- WE'RE THE COD ARMY!
On hearing that Fleetwood Town followers The Cod Army had adopted "Anarchy In The UK" to encourage their team to FA Cup victory against Conference Premier side Kidderminster Harriers, Californian Punk Rock band The Sex Presleys wasted no time in recording their own version of the song as a tribute to their favourite "soccer" team and it's renowned supporters.
The San Francisco four piece took "I Wanna Be Cod Army" chant and set it to an authentic Sex Pistols arrangement, with a result that sounds like something that would have been banned from Top Of The Pops in 1977.
The Sex Presleys, well known for their Punk Rock interpretations of Elvis Presley classics, have been following Fleetwood Town FC since being signed by Fleetwood based label Raucous Records who released their "God Save The King" album earlier this year. Guitarist Nick Pistol says "I really hope that this leads us to having the chance to play a gig for The Cod Army next time we come to the UK. We would love to hear them singing along".
"I Wanna Be Cod Army" is coupled with a reworking of Elvis Costello's classic "Oliver's Army", retitled "We're The Cod Army", and given a bustling guitar driven Punk Rock arrangement which The Clash would have been proud of. The band are planning that these two songs will form part of an EP called "Never Mind The Pollocks - We're The Cod Army". Though not yet available for sale, the songs can be heard here at www.codarmysongs.co.uk
The CD is on sale in the club shop on match days for £3.99 or online
