A Grand offer from Town
7 December, 2009
Fleetwood Town have tabled a significant, five-figure bid for Northwich Victoria captain Simon Grand.
Along with all other Football Conference and UniBond clubs, Fleetwood received a notice from Northwich last Friday stating all playing staff were available for permanent or loan transfer.
The circular, sent by the Football Conference on behalf of the Cheshire club, cited wage restructuring as the reason for the drastic move. The club started the Blue Square North season with -10 points after going into administration in May 2009.
Grand, 25, was a target of Fleetwood during the summer and the Highbury club have renewed interest in following last week’s announcement from the Victoria Stadium.
A Fleetwood spokesman said on Monday “Fleetwood Town have today contacted Northwich Victoria regarding Simon Grand and are awaiting a response.”
