Summary
Fleetwood Town manager Micky Mellon said before kick-off that it was “time for men to stand up” following the Boxing Day reversal at promotion rivals Southport. Mellon certainly saw enough mature performances as his side took all three points off struggling Vauxhall Motors.
Top of the bunch were fit-again Adam Warlow with his second half hat trick and man of the match Jamie Mullan, the unsung hero of the Highbury promotion drive.
Warlow’s partner upfront was Nick Rogan who came out of the Southport defeat with his head held high after a solid second half substitute appearance. Rogan continued where he left off on Saturday by opening the scoring just after the half hour mark. Lee Furlong drew level for the visitors on the hour mark before Warlow ensured all three points with a splendid 17 minute hat trick. Wilson took a late consolation penalty for the visitors.
