Summary
Gloucester City 1-2 Fleetwood Town
Blue Square North
Saturday 17th October 2009
Att 363
Gloucester City will feel hard done by as only added time and Gareth Seddon stood between avoiding their fourth home defeat of the Blue Square North campaign.
The visitors could have taken a comfortable lead if it wasn’t for two superb defensive blocks and a great reflex save by Mike Green. Nathan Pond produced a good turn of pace to hook back from the by-line. He supplied Sean Clancy who controlled with a low header and blasted from point blank range but Green intervened.
Gloucester City centre-half Marc Richards put his side into the lead following a 52nd minute corner. The ball fell for Richards and he needed a double take when he blasted his rebound home from the six yard line.
The home side always looked vulnerable to Town’s organised play and substitute Lee Dodgson, on the filed for just 6 minutes, made the Tigers pay on 72 minutes. An Alan Wright throw deep in the Gloucester half allowed Gareth Seddon to nip in behind Neil Mustoe. The Fleetwood striker put in a tidy cross to Dodgson and the substitute stroked home from close range.
Three added minutes were indicated just as Shaun Beeley threaded through for Seddon to have the last word. His shot from an acute angle ensured the points took Fleetwood up to fourth place.
