Season 2007/08

Mike Sumner

Manager

 

Mike Sumner has been involved with managing junior sides on the Fylde Coast for a number of years.  His most successful spell to date was managing one of the South Shore Youth sides all the way from U8's to U15's.  During that period, the team dominated their respective leagues, taking five league and cup doubles along the way.  Mike has also had the honour managing Blackpool Representative sides on three different occasions.  

Mike spent his own playing days as a youth with North Fylde United.  Coincidentally, Fleetwood Town Club President, Jim Betmead, was one of his managers at North Fylde.  Jim taught Mike a great deal about organising his game and seeing further than the 90 minutes on the pitch.   It is thanks to Jim that Mike’s coaching and managerial career in football as been able to progress to this level.

     

John Hindle

Assistant Manager

     

Dan Hogg

Goalkeeper

Dan keeps goal for Town U18s and hopes to take his playing career as far as possible. A former member of Blackpool’s youth set-up, his current ambition is to progress into the reserves and first team at Highbury.  A penalty save in a Manchester Youth Cup tie whilst playing for Manchester City is Dan’s career highlight to date – City went on to win the semi-final
1-0 against Manchester United.
 

     

Tom Holland
Goalkeeper

Goalkeeper Tom has previously played for Poulton Town and Blackpool Rangers. Tom started as a full-back but switched to goalkeeping on the advise of a former coach.   He enjoys playing drums in his spare time and also plays basketball and rugby.

     

Ryan Adderley

Right Back or Right Midfield

Ryan is comfortable as right back or right midfield.  His last club was South Shore, were he earned an impressive five league and cup doubles during his time there. His most memorable football experience was being voted Man of the Match during a Hogan Cup final at Bloomfield Road. Ryan has ambitions to earn a place in the Town Reserves.

     

Matty Gair

Right Wing

 

Fleetwood lad Matty plays on the right wing and can take up the right-back position when called on.  He passed through the ranks of Fleetwood Gym and hopes to go on to play for Town Reserves and first team. Matt also enjoys cricket in the close season.

 

     

Ollie Kelly

Right Back

Ollie plays right fullback and is determined to advance through the Fleetwood ranks and beyond.  A keen Leeds United supported, he mentions former Elland Road favourites Gary Kelly, Vinnie Jones and Lucas Radebe as his sporting heroes. Ollie has appeared for Town reserves this season.

     

Adam Sumner

Left Back


Left back Adam previously played for with the Bolton Wanderers junior set-up. He has also played for Liverpool Academy at Anfield. He has ambitions to take his footballing career as far as he can and has appeared for Fleetwood Town Reserves this season. 

 

 

     

Tom Kelly

Left Back or Midfield

Tom made his Fleetwood Town U18 debut against Kirkham & Wesham in September 2007.  He is comfortable playing on the left – either left back or in the midfield.  Playing at Elland Road, home of Leeds United is Tom’s sporting ambition.

 

     

Jamie Haydock
Left Midfield

Left midfielder Jamie is another former product of South Shore, with two league and cup doubles under his belt.  Jamie takes a winning determination into every game and hopes to play at the highest level.  Other footballing accomplishments include playing for the Blackpool Representative team.
 

     

Jordan Holmes

Centre Back

Centre-back Jordan hopes one day to play for Liverpool.  He made his Town U18 debut against the reserve side in a friendly this season.  Jordan’s last team was Blackpool Rangers.  He scored the winning penalty for Rangers against BJFF in the quarter final of the Hogan Cup.

 

     

Rob Vincent
Centre or Right
Midfield

Rob mentions his Fleetwood Town U18 debut against the Bolton Wanderers Academy in the in 2007/08 pre-season as one of most memorable playing experiences to date.  He plays centre or right midfield and his hometown is Fleetwood.  Combining studies at university and hopefully progressing to semi-pro status is Rob’s plan when his current A-Levels finish.
 

     

Jack Davidson

Central Midfield

Jack is plays in centre midfield and his first game for the U18s was against Milnthorpe Corinthians in September 2007.  Captaining a Blackpool Town team and representing Lancashire School Boys are amongst Jack’s football honours to date. Away from football, he enjoys golf and boxing.

 

     

Andy Bartholomew
Central Midfield or Defence

Andy plays in centre midfield or centre back. His last club was Blackpool Juniors FF and hopes to advance his playing career with Fleetwood Town.  Andy sets high standards for himself and his most memorable playing experience was winning the Lancashire Cup final 3-2 playing for Montgomery High School.

     

Mike Ronson

Centre Back

Mike plays centre-back and has experience of captaining an U14 Hogan Cup final side.  Football ambitions include progressing to qualify through the various coaching badges.  Mike made his Town U18 debut against Kirkham & Wesham earlier this season.
 

     

Matty Wood
Centre Back

This imposing centre-half made his Town debut earlier this season against Kirkham & Wesham.  His towering height allows him to dominate the back line. The last club he played for Thornton-Cleveleys and supports Blackpool. Matty has previously captained a Manchester City youth side.   
 

     

Matty Mecklenburgh
Striker or Right Midfield

Fleetwood lad Matty is a versatile player, who can take up position as a right midfielder or striker.  His Fleetwood Town U18 debut was in 2007/08 pre-season against Bolton Wanderers Academy.  He is currently employed as a football coach and has ambitions to break into the reserve side.
 

     

Joey Newsome
Striker

Fleetwood youngster Joey is a striker and has played for the U18s and Town Reserves this season.  His last club was Preston North End and has appeared in the Lancashire School Boys team.  Joey is proud to support his home town team and lists England’s Alan Shearer and David Beckham as influencing his career. 

     

Sam Hargreaves
Striker

Striker Sam made his Town U18 debut against Colne is a pre-season friendly last summer. His football honours include League and cup winners with Thornton-Cleveleys U17’s and League winners with Poulton Town U15’s.  Sam also plays rugby, cricket and the 400metres.
