Midfielder arrives on season-long loan

Fleetwood Town are delighted to confirm the signing of Huddersfield Town midfielder Kyle Dempsey.

The highly-rated 20-year-old arrives on a season-long loan from the Championship side after making 24 appearances for the club last season.

Dempsey cost the Yorkshire club around £300,000 last summer after he burst onto the scene, playing 46 times for Carlisle United.

Fleetwood beat off interest from a host of League One clubs to land the midfielder, and Head Coach Uwe Rosler was pleased to get his man.

“We are delighted to have Kyle on board for the coming season,” said Rosler.

“Kyle is a very talented player who arrives with experience of playing in the Championship last season and superbly in League Two before that.

“I’m delighted David Wagner has trusted us with one of his top young talents.”

Dempsey could make his debut in the Checkatrade Trophy clash with Blackburn’s U23s at Highbury tomorrow night, and Rosler believes he’ll add plenty to the side.

He said: “Kyle is an ambitious and tough player who has the right mentality for what we are trying to achieve here.

“He will give us lots of energy, a goal threat and real quality from set pieces.

“We feel his ambition will not only drive his own career forward, but our club in the next 12 months."
